There's some truth there. You can't accept and love others unless you can first do the same for yourself. Sadly, all too often, people use relationships as a way to prop up their own shortcomings -- to disastrous results.

To paraphrase something someone once told me, 'If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything.'

Hey,

I believe that the main thing that people miss out is on the questions that they have about themselves. i.e inner nature.

Even dependence on someone, a religious scripture, a so called "spiritual teacher" is a dependence.

So what i feel is the essence of the story is to seek god first. Not true the definitions by religious teacher or books and all. But thru our own experiences. That's why what you said about not having a rulebook to follow hits it right on the head. Rules are ideas created by other people who are on their own paths. The thing is that all of us are on our own paths. We can't follow another persons way on our path.

victor,
correct me if i`m wrong...from the story what i find is,human tend to forget where they came from and their true inner nature and end up with too much dependence on maya or illusion of the world.
life should be blissful in your own way and it isn`t a rulebook to follow....
