I have something which just extremely bothers me for a pretty long time. I have always wondered why we always assume that those who are busier and under more stress are normally deemed to be more valuable. It has always been something like a huge inner-debate thing.

At times when I see myself being so free and just easy, I actually feel a sense of being uncomfortable. It’s this feeling of  just discomfort whenever I see other people being busy and I’m just relaxing. I sometimes wonder why other people just love being busy. I would definitely say it’s not luck, because we all have a choice in life.

We all have plenty of choices in everything in our lives. We might face situations where we think that our choices are limited but if we were to think in a deeper perspective, it is just because we have a limited perspective on the situation.

I guess that’s what my life is all about at the moment. Doing things in my own way, at my own pace. Just living life based upon the values and things which I really care about.

I had this epiphany a few years ago that I really didn’t have to follow others in doing what they do.  There is no need for me to stress. No need for me to just conform just because other people are doing the same. I tell myself that I have the choice to live the life I desire and believe in the things I believe. I am constantly now in a state of self-referral. It means that I just live my life according to my vision of who I am and the person I want to become. I am not afraid to be confronted by other people who would label me as being naive or uncaring. I am just me.

I guess that’s what my spiritual strength has brought me to in the couple of years. The desire to just be who I am.

I thoroughly do not believe that life should meant to be a struggle. If you are struggling at the moment, take the time to really think it through. Ask yourself if you should really struggle. Many times, we buy ourselves into conclusions because we just don’t take time to just reflect and really think things through. I had, and I came out with my own conclusions.

I believe that success in life is measured by the joy we have in a consistent basis.

For me, joy is the measure of success. It is found in my meditations, in my sudden insights and the fact that I do things which I really love.

For me, there is no such thing as getting far in life. We can’t get far in life. We can only get to where we want to. We do not get what we want, we get what we are.

I don’t believe at all that life is meant to be a struggle. That is one of the biggest myth that we all have to dispel to live a life of greater joy and fulfillment.

I don’t believe that we do not have a choice in life. Everything is as perfect as it is in the present moment. It is jut our inability to be happy in the present moment that we constantly try to change things. When we learn how to be still in the present and not just run away from it, we have a sense of peace and inner joy; something which is just extremely lacking in our society in the present.

Find the time to be just still in the present.

Find time to reflect.

Take time off.

Create a set of values of your own.

Find yourself, for it becomes a platform for you to find deeper and more lasting happiness.

We currently live in an age of distraction. We have so many things which distract us from ourselves, from having a real sense of connection with ourselves.

We are distracted from so many things like facebook, emails, twitter, reading blogs and technology that we fail to realize on things which are more important to us. Technology has evolved in such a way that we fail to really spend time to reconnect with those things which are important to us. Things like a connection to ourselves and having a really good time with people who are close to us. Instead, we choose to be connected at a digital level through social networking sites and through other means made available by the internet.

I have been thinking recently about deleting my facebook account. If it’s not because of my nature of work, I would have easily deleted my account already.

I realize how much time people could spend on facebook without ever realizing it. It’s so easy to just spend a couple of hours just looking at what our friends are doing and doing all those quizes which wastes so much of our time. I personally feel as if facebook is a media in which individuals just spend so much time trying to look good in front of other people. It’s superficial and it becomes a popularity thing. I look at those pictures and how many friends that some people have and I just felt a sense of amusement.

Technology also makes it extremely easy for us to avoid facing the actual problem of things. How many times have I seen individuals using them to just feel better and just avoid things, instead of really facing the problems and really dealing with them?

It is so much easier to just log-on to our facebook account or our online tools than to face the actual problems that we are currently facing. It’s so much easier to disconnect ourselves from the problem than actually face them.

I guess that’s what facing our society at this time of writing; and that we are so used to being distracted from what’s truly important. We are constantly running away from situations which we fear or from an unfulfilled desire. These technology makes us feel better by just totally avoiding them.

The way out is through an awareness. We have to slowly find that awareness to understand that whether we are using technology to our advantage or are we using it to avoid things and situations. If you are one of those who are avoiding situations, do take a step to move away from them.

Self doubt is the number thing that have hold people back. We all know that for us to achieve something requires us to change. Most of us have this fear of our own capacity to embrace change in our lives.
I have been facing an incredible amount of doubt recently. Especially about my career at times.
I believe everyone does, especially the most successful. Doubt is only natural because it’s an indication that we are changing. Doubt is a sign of fear which arises from change.
So, instead of being miserable about the doubt, choose instead to take the negatives out from it. Choose to acknowledge the fact that you are changing and it could only do you good.
Instead of being doubtful of the next course of action, do some other things. Take a rest and recompose ourselves. Calm ourselves to acknowledge the doubts and fears that we have first. And then take action in spite of that doubt. It’s scary no doubt.
Always hold in mind that the benefits of an intended action would be much worthy compared to the pain of change in which we will have to experience.
We all experience it. It’s just the matter of dealing with them.
I’m currently trying to deal with mine in a better way as well.

We cannot anticipate the future. I start with this motion because I feel this is the most important statement I would have to make in this post. It is because of this that I would like to stress it’s importance.

You might think that it makes sense. We all know that we could not anticipate the future, but if we see how we react to certain things, we would realize that we don’t really understand this fact.

Uncertainty Of The Future

How many times do you feel unhappy when something didn’t go our way? Or when you expected someone to act a certain way? Have you felt a sense of insecurity before from not having enough money, in a relationship or in your future?

If we all know that the future cannot be anticipated, why do we even have a sense of insecurity or a sense of heavy expectation for something to happen? Would it actually help us be more productive? I don’t think so.

So, this post is going to focus on these mere fact that we could not anticipate the future and thus we should not create heavy expectations for things to happen. Most of the time, these expectations actually bring us down. It makes us unhappy, stressed, worried. If we try to control the future too much or spend too much time dwelling on it, we become individuals who aren’t fulfilled because we depend on things to go a certain way for us to be happy. If things don’t go our way, we get unhappy. There are many situations that illustrate this. It might be people who are after a promotion, parents who want their children to be a profession, people who expect their spouses to act in different ways or a sales target we want to achieve.

You see, we spend so much time in the future that it creates a lot of expectations. These expectations makes us fearful. We fear that if we do not achieve them or if things don’t go our way, we will get disappointed or we might not look good in front of other people. Since our society is such that whenever something don’t go according to what they want, we actually label them as failures.

That is why our society value those who hold on to their words/promises, those who are consistent, those whose personality doesn’t change much. We love these kind of consistency or what I would rather call as “PERMANENCE”. We love it deep down because of the security it brings. We don’t like things in which we couldn’t predict but like I said, we cannot predict the future.
