“When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.”
-Wayne Dyer-
Recently, I have been drowning myself to understand this concept of finding perfection in every single moment. I realize the power in which I have to create an empowering mindset based upon this principle of making every single moment as perfect as it is. So many times whenever I want to achieve something or have something, I would get in this state of lack. This state of lack is what we are taught since we are being brought up.
We are taught that if we want to get something, we have to feel as if we want it really badly and then it will appear through hard work and a proper strategy. This does not only apply to money or material things but also to relationships and happiness.
It’s in my realization that I know that this is not really the case.
We have to find the perfection in every moment.
Every Single Moment Is Perfect
It might be hard to really grasp this concept but I believe this is a fundamental belief to find more joy in our lives.
Every single moment is as perfect as it should be. Whatever that happens in the present is because of the sole fact that we manifested them. We created that moment. If we are feeling as if we are being blamed, judged, condemned, treated harshly; we should realize that we create this situations.
Most of the time I believe that everyone are taught that we could blame the circumstances, that is on those things which happens to us. We should learn to instead realize that whatever that happens in our lives is because we had created them consciously or unconsciously. This idea may be hard to grasp, but it’s a most powerful one.
Every single moment is perfect in a sense that we do not need more to feel happy or need circumstances to change for happiness to come to us. Things don’t need to happen. People don’t have to praise us. We do not need to watch a movie. We don’t need to have a windfall. We don’t need to be a millionaire. We don’t have to be right. Every single moment is a moment to be happy.
It doesn’t matter that we achieve a goal or a plan turn out as we want it to be. Every single moment is perfect. We might be behind our plans or not really in the right track but we have to realize that it’s perfect. We have to learn to let go this need of being controlling of how we want things to be.
There is a perfection in every moment. Every single second. We just need a shift in our perspective.
On Motivation
I think motivation is the single thing for which many people seldom take the time to really analyze.
I can’t remember where I read it before but I remember that motivation can be differentiated into two kinds.
The first one is called deficiency motivation while the other refers to growth motivation.
Deficiency motivation refers to the believe that we are in a state of lack. We do not have the money we have now, so we work to get it. We do not have the relationship we have now, so we work to find for it.
Meanwhile, growth motivation refers to the fact that we are already perfect. We just expand in a way because we all have to expand. The perfect example would be plants. Plants grow at their own stages. We do not expect to plant a seed in the ground and then expect it to grow to a 100 meters tall in just a week. It’s the same with growth. We all grow at a pace. Would we say that the plant is in a state of lack when it only grows a couple of inches after a week? Definitely no. This is because growth takes place based upon nature.
Our motivation should be based upon that as well. We have to realize that we are at different stages of growth. We are as perfect as we are because of what we have done in the past.
Relax About The Future
I felt that I always fret and worry about the future. I was always concern about the outcome of things and whether I could achieve my goals and plans.
I guess that’s a form of deficiency motivation. The feeling of lack, and that I would have to achieve something to feel whole.
I have to learn very much to just learn about this concept. I treat this teaching as one of the most powerful things that I have learned. Be conscious of our thoughts to be aware of what we are constantly driven by. Most of us don’t even have a faintest idea on what we are actually driven by.
Just relax about the future. We just have to learn how to take every day as it is. Just enjoy the present. Let everything be as it is. It’s already perfect as it is. We do not need to struggle against the laws of nature.
How Do We Find Perfection
It’s only natural that many people would find it extremely ridiculous that I am saying such things. After more, we all normally just love the fact that things are imperfect and that we would have to feel such a way in order to achieve something.
That’s just the power of social conditioning. We are all conditioned in such a way to feel a sense of lack. We are seldom allowed to feel a sense of wholeness and fullness of the present. We are brought up to believe that if we feel in such a way, we lack drive and that we don’t get anywhere in life.
But I guess there is nothing further from the truth. If we contemplate for a moment on those times which we are truly happy, we would find that those moments actually allow us to be more motivated. Those moments prove to be times of great inspiration and we feel courageous to be and create anything we desire.
Fulfillment lies in the deep conviction that every moment is perfect. Nothing has to change in order for us to feel whole.
Know that life is just totally perfect in the moment. The feeling of imperfection lies in the future. If we stay in the present, nothing could make it better it is perfect.
If we had a bad past, know that we could never change it. Learn from it and know that you are a new soul and a new human being capable of infinite possibilities.
Learn to just be. Just be in the moment.
Practical Application In Our Daily Lives
- Meditation. I can’t stress this enough. I am an advocate for this because of the fact that we as a society are moving too much. We do not know how to be still.
- Learn to give more to ourselves. Give a sense of a silent blessing to ourselves.
- Be in appreciation of the creator. Appreciate the fact that everything that happens, happens for a reason. The people we meet. The circumstances we meet or the situations we face. It is either because we created it or they are lessons in which we need to learn.
- Keep a journal. Find the perfection and the greatness in your life. I have always done that. It gives me a sense as if my life is a miracle. At times, I just totally forget about what I want and just dwell upon the beauty of what I am now. I just learn to be. Being can be found in a sense of gratitude and appreciation.
- Spend time feeling like a miracle. You are a miracle. I am a miracle. Learn to appreciate the miracle that you already are. You do not need more.
- Spend time talking to inspiring people. I always know that whenever I spend time with people who are more grateful and appreciative of every single moment, I feel a great sense of inspiration. I feel a sense of wholeness within myself. I don’t feel a single sense of lack. I just know for a fact that those who are often unhappy are those who compare. When we mix around with inspiring people, we learn to accept the fact that we are all already whole and perfect as we should be. We do not need to be slimmer, fatter, prettier, smarter, richer; because we are already a miracle.
- Take baby steps. I learned this only recently. I know for a fact that anything worth achieving require small incremental steps.
Side Notes
I realize that life’s truly a brief candle. Life’s greatest moments are not when we have something. It’s often during those times when we really feel joyous and happy with the person we have become and the fulfillment that we have.
Happiness is truly an inner work.
