I have once a friend who was extremely curious as to why I’m so interested with the pursuit over self improvement, or personal growth. She was just absolutely amazed at the number of self-help audio I have on my iPod. She did not understand why I was so interested in listening and reading to this sort of audio. She did not understand why I was so interested in improving myself when I am, according to her, too young.

Many would not understand why I am interested to improve myself in this area.  My answer was simple: I wanted to live a better life.

The Big “Why”- My Journey

The pursuit of self improvement is something which is always very personal. Different individuals have different meaning attached to self improvement. We all go in pursuit of self improvement to fulfill different needs. Some go in search to improve their career, some for inspiration, while for me; it was just a spiritual search. Self improvement helps us understand ourselves better. It provides an avenue for which we have to be honest to ourselves. To really know who we are, at what level of life we are, and where we are heading in our lives. Read the rest of this entry »

I have always enjoyed spending time alone. It’s not because that I’m a loner or that I find it hard to connect to anyone else, it’s just that over the years, I found out how important spending certain time alone would help me. It has become an absolute must to me. It allows me to charge my emotional batteries, to reflect on things that happen and to reconnect to my inner self.

Spending time alone does not mean being on the computer chatting or reading or listening to the radio or watching television. It means just giving yourself time. It means just enjoying time doing nothing. Just entertaining the thoughts that arises in your mind. There are many ways in which you could spend time alone. However, I always make sure that my time alone does not allow me contact with anyone or any stimulation .

Activities that work great for me include meditation, a good morning walk or jog and journaling. This activities allow me to listen to those inner thoughts I have within me.

However as time passed, I realised that many people actually do not actually spend time alone. Society has been so busy with “doing” and achievement that they basicly have no time to stop and spend time alone. Society thrives on “doing” and achievement. Read the rest of this entry »

Have you ever faced a situation where you knew you had to do something, but you do not follow through ?

You might be facing a situation where you want to change something, lose some weight, study for an exam or call someone. We plan everything but we later give ourselves many stories when it’s time to take action. You failed to follow through, although you know that by doing so it will help improve a situation or your life. You failed because you tell yourself many stories on why we need not do the task.sunsetstoryteller121

These stories are called justifications. We tell ourselves that is all right to not study at the moment. We tell ourselves that is ok to not exercise. We tell ourselves different stories so as to allow ourselves to not feel bad for not taking that action. Deep down, we know that we must do them because it do us good. But we end up justifying.
We are all amazing storytellers. Read the rest of this entry »

Purpose is an essential item in any activity. Would you watch a football match if there are no goalposts ? What is the use of playing football when there are no goalposts. What’s the use of living when you do not know why. Honestly, I havent have a clear picture of mine yet. But, i know of those things which are currently important to me. I know of those values which I currently uphold.

In the previous post, I talked about the importance of doing what you love. Doing what you love is crucial to living a joyful and fulfilling life.

However, what if you have NOT find out what you love to do ? How do you find for that passion of yours ?

The following are the ways in which I would suggest to anyone wanting to find for their passion:

  1. Be patient. It takes time. If you still have not find for it, do not worry. Sometimes answers that take a longer time are bigger answers. You might find out that the answer when it comes, is something which blows your mind.
  2. Plant a seed. At a minimum, just ask yourself. Do not worry that they answer would not come. Just be confident that the answer will come in the near future. When you’re free, just ask yourself. You might even want to write down those thoughts. Read the rest of this entry »
